Reaction to summer plants
If your child spends a lot of time outdoors, it is essential to know that there are certain plants that can cause blisters, rashes, and or hives. Some plants that can cause this include: poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. These plants contain Urushiol oil which is a common cause of summer rash. Touching these plants can quickly transfer the oil on the skin. When a rash appears, gently wash the area with soap and water. Contact Dr. Gulati's office for further instructions. Your child should wear appropriate clothing and eyewear in order to avoid these consequences.
